# Write a purpose statement

Purpose:: Write one clear purpose statement: what it stands for, what it is used for, how it is experienced and its main benefit.

Rules::
- Answer all 4 questions, then cut every filler word
- Final: one sentence, max 40 words, says who it is for
- Plain words a stranger understands

Inventory::
- Your idea, your "I sell" line and your "to ..." goal
- The 4 questions: stands for, used for, experienced, major benefit

Steps::
1. Stands for: take your "to ..." goal
2. Used for: take what you sell
3. Experienced: how a user feels while using it
4. Benefit: the one big win for the user
5. Draft 2 sentences: "<product> is a <kind of tool> that ..."
6. Keep what it is, who uses it, what for and the big win; rewrite as one sentence
7. Reply with the draft, then the final sentence

Metrics::
- The final is one sentence a stranger understands
- All 4 answers are still in it
- It says who it is for
